the key to understanding a blog is to realize that it’s a broadcast, not a publication. If it stops moving, it dies. If it stops paddling, it sinks.
Thornburgh didn't grow up with a burning desire to be a reporter. He taught English in Latvia for a few months after graduating from Stanford, but his first love was music. He played sax in a salsa band, which performed in Cuba, among other places.

This newspaper hopes profoundly that this will not happen. Over the past century and a half capitalism has proved its worth for billions of people. The parts of the world where it has flourished have prospered; the parts where it has shrivelled have suffered. Capitalism has always engendered crises, and always will. Irena,
That is so lovely! Do you have fruit trees in your yard?

Sveiki Pierre!
Thank you! We used to have fruit trees (the tree in the pic is a Crabapple), but the squirrels and/or deer would get to them before we could and I got tired of all the fertilizing, all the care that was required. We still have an old apple tree in the front yard, which has seen better days, but I’m too sentimental to cut it down as yet.
Lucky you, having a Trader Joe’s so close to home! The nearest one from here is about 20 minutes(matter of fact, I’ll be taking a little trip there tomorrow); I’m hoping they’ll build another one closer by, but…
Have a good weekend!
