Dear readers:
It’s been exhausting to blog last year. 2006 had brought too many personal problems to combat, leaving practically no time, or desire, for blogging.
All About Latvia began on March 5, 2003 as an outlet for personal reflection and search for my own national identity. It offered me a window into the world of my home country without ever having to leave my crummy one-bedroom apartment on the outskirts of one Michigan town, where I lived at the time. It became a source of information for some people, a place for discussion on issues important to Latvians in particular, and the Baltic States in general, and a place for corrections of my own views.
By the time 2006 arrived, the blog had transformed from a joy onto my eye into a daily chore I dreaded each night. I started looking for excuses to avoid doing it. On top of personal problems that needed to be taken care of first and foremost, blogging took a back seat in a bus with capacity of 200 people.
So, now, filled with new hopes, new dreams, I’m coming out of long hiatus, hoping that at least some portion of the readership who checked out the site in the last four years will return for more fun.
In this 2007 version, I’ve decided to turn off comments on this site. Spam has been a constant problem. Instead, should you feel compelled to comment on anything you read here, you can drop me a note. Your e-mails may be used anonymously in posts unless you specify otherwise.
Happy New Year, to you all. May 2007 bring you lots of joy, smiles, and pleasures.
